ANY RELIGION IS WELCOME
Including those with no religion at all
Who are willing to serve.

So….WTF IS THIS NONSENSE???

.@SECWAR “Today, at my direction, I am establishing the Office of Religious Affairs. Starting today, and for Secretaries of War after me, the Office of Religious Affairs will report straight to the top.

No staff filters. No bureaucratic dilution. A direct line to the Secretary. This won’t be a policy shop pushing paper. It will have real teeth. It will protect budgets, demand infrastructure, and strengthen religious support.

The experts – our chaplains – will finally have an advocate at the highest levels. Policy and resources will serve the mission, not smother it.”

So what if you just want to serve your country in the military now and don’t want Christian nationalism shoved down your throat and pushed on you by military leadership? I guess you are out of luck. Because that was our military for the entire history of the country until now.

Pretty clear Hegseth’s primary mission is to transform the military ideologically by overtly indoctrinating troops with Christian nationalism and apocalyptic holy war messaging while rooting out those who don’t want to participate and just want to serve their country admirably.

Everything George Washington and the founders feared about unhinged fanatics gaining control of the military power of the federal government is now happening. They designed a framework to prevent it, but that framework is premised on a Congress participating in government.

This is not hyperbole. Take it seriously.

In important decision for separation of powers, court rules Trump cannot fire court-appointed US Attorney, which would circumvent Senate’s role of advice and consent. If Trump wants to replace him, Trump must nominate a confirmable candidate.

Talked to a Stanford prof last night who told me that AI has led to students all acing all the homeworks, never showing up to office hours, and then failing the final exams in-person. So in response the department is changing the TA’s purpose, by eliminating office hours and requiring students meet with TAs 1:1 and walking them through each coding assignment to demonstrate they actually understand what’s going on in the code.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship yesterday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas during the 1960s.

Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren’t allowed to try on clothes before purchasing without adhering to certain conditions. For instance, they had to try on clothes over their clothes, put on protective covers when trying on hats, or weren’t allowed to make returns once they purchased clothes and brought them home. These policies stemmed from the racist fear that white customers would refuse merchandise previously worn by Black shoppers.

The downtown Neiman Marcus flagship was one of the first major Dallas businesses that broke with these practices. In 1961, the company desegregated its Zodiac Room, a swanky restaurant frequented by Dallas elites. Neiman Marcus later welcomed Black shoppers without restrictions. These victories were achieved through the efforts of Civil Rights activists, along with support from Neiman Marcus president Stanley Marcus, who was an early advocate for desegregation in Dallas. The Neiman Marcus store manager purportedly warned Marcus that he would ruin his business — and indeed, some shoppers closed their accounts — but he stuck with his decision.

At the time of the flagship’s closure, the Main Street store had been open for 112 years.
