Civil Rights Era to Michael Brown | 50 Years of Hate | Rep John Lewis Says POTUS Should Declare Martial Law in Ferguson!

WE STAND IN SUPPORT OF MICHAEL BROWN  HIS PARENTS & THE CITIZENS OF FERGUSON!  God Bless Michael Brown Sr. & Lesley McSpadden.

Don’t be fooled by the folks screaming the loudest about No federal troops! No Martial law! Let the states handle it! Well we know how ‘s that”state’s rights” thingy works. So far, as a more recent example, in Ferguson, it has not been working for BLACK PEOPLE.

Whenever I hear “States rights” it makes my skin crawl. I never hear it from anyone but white folks. These folks scream and cry about it because bank it, the rules, regs, and policies are for their benefit and theirs alone.  This is the MINDSET of the “State rights” fuckery.”   I’m all for states rights if all its citizens have the same rights.

Like Michael Brown Jr. having the RIGHT to walk down a sidewalk in broad day light without being harnessed by the police.

And if the argument is  that Ferguson is already under martial law, not so.  The redneck cops in Ferguson wanted to throw their weight around and prove to the “coloreds” that they were large and in charge.  They created the scene of war, by their inciting through intimidation, calling its citizens “animals,” and shooting an unarmed Michael Brown.

The citizens of Ferguson and others came in from around the country to get answers and make some sense of the killing, and what do these cops do?  Let their rage and  racial hate loose on a town of grieving citizens.

And don’t think for one minute that they didn’t get their MARCHING ORDERS from someone high up in the RANKS.

The laws were not administered EQUALLY & JUSTLY 50 years ago for BLACK PEOPLE, and they are not administered equally &  justly in 2014.  We will NOT be going BACK.

50 years and nothing has changed

FYI:  Here’s a history of former POTUS who declared martial law:

President John F. Kennedy declared martial law in Alabama in 1961

President Lyndon B. Johnson declared martial law in Detroit, MI in 1967.  Note:  Governor Romney called on President Johnson to declare martial law.

Ferguson PD needs to release the name of the cop who shot and killed  an UNARMED Michael Brown Jr.  We will not be going back to those days,  We have the right to assemble and protest without KKK cops in blue uniforms, carrying guns, billy clubs, and dogs inciting and intimidating us.

  3. Chief Jackson: “I released the videotape, because I had to.”

  4. Police Chief: Officer who shot Michael Brown was not aware of robbery when he made initial contact.

    • Ametia says:

WTF does this mean? Why is Jackson out in front of the camera again, parsing out this nonsensical rubbish and lies?

      • Liza says:

It’s the thuggification of Michael Brown by the cops intended to show that the kid would have tried to get the cop’s gun because he’s a thug and just committed a robbery.

Some of those cops need to be strapped to a polygraph and asked some questions, starting with Darren Wilson.

  5. BREAKING: Police chief of Ferguson will hold another press conference today at 3 PM

  6. Police has FRAMED unarmed Michael Brown as a BIG BLK BRUTE BULLY robbing a store to assaulting a police officer & going 4 his gun? Do you see how this is dripping with racism?

  7. GrannyStandingforTruth says:

The person in the store video has a slight beard/goatee. Michael Brown did not have one.

  8. Police put a photoshopped pic of a grown ass man looking to be around 35 to 40 yrs old and implying it’s 18yr old Michael Brown.

    • yahtzeebutterfly says:

The hands of the big guy in store picture look fishy. One looks as if he is reaching for door and not the store clerk.

      Now I am seeing this:

“We see that there’s tape, that they claim they got a tape that shows there was some sort of strong-armed robbery,” said Freeman Bosley, Johnson’s attorney. “We need to see that tape, my client did tell us and told the FBI that they went into the store. He told FBI that he did take cigarillos, he told that to the DOJ and the St. Louis County Police.”

” Why isn’t Dorian Johnson under arrest?”

    http://www.vox.com/2014/8/15/6005903/dorian-johnson-ferguson-suspect-michael-brown-witness

Also named in the police report is Dorian Johnson, said to have been Brown’s accomplice in the robbery. Johnson is also a witness to Brown’s shooting and his account of events has been one of the primary pieces of evidence for police misconduct. In Johnson’s version of events, needless to say, he and Brown were not perpetrators of a crime.

All of which gives rise to a mystery — why haven’t the police arrested Dorian Johnson?

Regardless of whether the use of deadly force was justified as a means of apprehending a robbery suspect, on the police’s account of events one of the suspects — Johnson — was very much not dead. Why not arrest him? He isn’t missing. He’s been doing interviews with TV stations.

    • Liza says:

Okay, so we knew the redneck cops would try to come up with a justified killing story. It’s awfully lame, but of course, these ol’ boys are navigating what is to them uncharted waters. They are used to having the last word in that town.

I’m glad that the DOJ is already on this.

  14. The autopsy report must be REALLY bad and police are creating a defense. Is an arrest coming?

  15. Ametia says:

David Simon- creator of The Wire, wrote a little something about Ferguson:

The endgame for American civic responsibility Pt. III
    14 Aug

    August 14, 2014

    Mr. Thomas Jackson

    Chief of Police

    Ferguson, Missouri

    Chief Jackson:

Regard this as an open letter in light of your department’s unwillingness to properly identify the officer involved in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in your jurisdiction this last week.

Understand that I am someone with a high regard for good police work. I covered a large municipal department for a dozen years and spent that time writing in detail on extraordinary efforts by professional detectives and officers, and, too, on systemic and individual failures within that same agency. I am not unsympathetic to the complex truths of practical policing.

To that effect, I’m offering no judgment as to the legitimacy of the police action in the death of Mr. Brown, nor am I critiquing your department’s militarized performance with regard to the resulting civil disturbances in your municipality. I leave the former for the more careful assessments of prosecutors and, presumably, a grand jury; the latter, I am sure, will be a subject of continued discussion within your community, in Missouri as a whole, and elsewhere in the country.

But for now, let’s simply focus on the notion that you, as head of a police department accountable to the citizens of your jurisdiction, actually seem to believe — along with local prosecutors — that it is plausible for a sworn and armed officer to kill a citizen and do so in anonymity.

Regrettably, I know that you are not alone in this astonishing breach of trust. More than a decade ago, some of our most authoritative federal agencies began a tragic retreat from basic accountability, shielding their agents from any scrutiny for their use of the most signficant power that a law officer can possess — the taking of a human life as an act of personal deliberation. Following the lead of the FBI, other large urban departments have since followed suit, or attempted to do so at points.

But the cost to our society is not abstract — and the currency in which that cost is paid is trust. Your department has shown that you do not trust the public with the basic information about who specifically has, in the performance of his or her duties, been required to take a human life in Ferguson. And that same public is now in the street demonstrating that they do not believe that Ferguson law enforcement can therefore be relied upon for anything remotely resembling justice. How could it be otherwise?

If you cannot see the contempt inherent in your policy, then you, sir, may need to reconsider both your own role and the premise of law enforcement in a democratic society. You may need to yield your position to someone who retains the basic notion that your officers, armed with the extraordinary authority of using state-sanctioned lethal force on fellow citizens, are equally burdened by a responsibility for standing by their actions in full. You, your department, and the prosecutors in your jurisdiction are now running from that responsibility. In doing so, you lose the trust and respect of your citizens, your state and the nation.

  23. rikyrah says:

The Day Ferguson Cops Were Caught in a Bloody Lie
The officers got the wrong man, but charged him anyway—with getting his blood on their uniforms. How the Ferguson PD ran the town where Michael Brown was gunned down.

Police in Ferguson, Missouri, once charged a man with destruction of property for bleeding on their uniforms while four of them allegedly beat him.

“On and/or about the 20th day of Sept. 20, 2009 at or near 222 S. Florissant within the corporate limits of Ferguson, Missouri, the above named defendant did then and there unlawfully commit the offense of ‘property damage’ to wit did transfer blood to the uniform,” reads the charge sheet.

The address is the headquarters of the Ferguson Police Department, where a 52-year-old welder named Henry Davis was taken in the predawn hours on that date. He had been arrested for an outstanding warrant that proved to actually be for another man of the same surname, but a different middle name and Social Security number.

“I said, ‘I told you guys it wasn’t me,’” Davis later testified.

He recalled the booking officer saying, “We have a problem.”

The booking officer had no other reason to hold Davis, who ended up in Ferguson only because he missed the exit for St. Charles and then pulled off the highway because the rain was so heavy he could not see to drive. The cop who had pulled up behind him must have run his license plate and assumed he was that other Henry Davis. Davis said the cop approached his vehicle, grabbed his cellphone from his hand, cuffed him and placed him in the back seat of the patrol car, without a word of explanation.

But the booking officer was not ready just to let Davis go, and proceeded to escort him to a one-man cell that already had a man in it asleep on the lone bunk. Davis says that he asked the officer if he could at least have one of the sleeping mats that were stacked nearby.

”He said I wasn’t getting one,” Davis said.

Yesterday when I was lurking someone—Decatur Deb, IIRC—said something to the effect of the people of Ferguson were being punished for electing a black President, and (paraphrasing) “You didn’t think they were going to go out easy, did you?”

I’ve had those same thoughts myself many times since Obama was
elected. Ditto the black friends I’ve discussed it with. I never
imagined that it would get as ugly as it has though—not just in
    Ferguson, but all over.

I think those people knew they were being punished too and it hurt
them and made them angry. Black Americans were so happy when Obama was elected, as were many people of all races. Do you guys remember seeing all the people weeping with joy, and even reporters & people like Stephen Colbert choking up? Everyone was so proud.

That lasted what, a week? Maybe until his swearing in? Then we found out later that they whole time the GOP was planning to obstruct him at every turn. He’s gotten nothing but disrespect from certain quarters since 2008. It’s truly shameful. It pisses me off and I’m not black, how do you think black people feel?

All the hundreds of years of brutal slavery, loss of their original
cultures & languages, families broken up and sold, women raped, men (and women) whipped & beaten, Jim Crow, lynchings, the Civil Rights fights, and still they never got equality. Then OMG, a black President! Happiness, pride, black children knowing they really could one day be anything, even president…

Yeah, I’m 100% sure there are some people who see this sea change, the changing culture & demographics, as a zero sum game and want to punish black Americans for it. It’s sickening.

    *steps down from pulpit*”

When The Media Treats White Suspects And Killers Better Than Black Victims
The Huffington Post | By Nick Wing

On the afternoon of Aug. 9, a police officer fatally shot an unarmed, black teenager, Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Missouri. Details remain in dispute. Eyewitnesses have said that Brown was compliant with police and was shot while he had his hands up. Police maintain that the 18-year-old had assaulted an officer and was reaching for the officer’s gun. One thing clear, however, is that Brown’s death follows a disturbingly common trend of black men being killed, often while unarmed and at the hands of police officers, security guards and vigilantes.

After news of Brown’s death broke, media-watchers carefully followed the narratives that news outlets began crafting about the teenager and the incident that claimed his life. Wary of the controversy surrounding the media’s depiction of Trayvon Martin — the Florida teen killed in a high-profile case that led to the acquittal of neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman — people on Twitter wondered, “If they gunned me down, which picture would they use?” Using the hashtag #IfTheyGunnedMeDown, users posted side-by-side photos, demonstrating the power that news outlets wield in portraying victims based on images they select.

On Monday, Twitter user LordSWVP tweeted out a photo driving home another point: Media treatment of black victims is often harsher than it is of whites suspected of crimes, including murder.
