Open Thread | Voter Suppression Train Up and Running in Wisconsin

We are back at one of the topics that interests us a great deal here at 3CHICS:

VOTER SUPPRESSION.

Today’s obvious example is coming from Wisconsin.

If people are registered to vote and come out and vote, the GOP loses. They cannot win fair elections.
Voter Suppression is the core of thelr election strategy for 2020.

Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. The three states that ‘ elected’ Dolt45.
People wanna talk about third party voting in these states.
I, however, will continue to beat the horse that gets neglected and overlooked when folks are trying to explain 2016.

That horse?

The number of regular Democratic Party voters that did not vote because THEY WERE DENIED ACCESS TO THE FRANCHISE DUE TO VOTER SUPPRESSION.

In each state, that number of regular Democratic Party voters who were voter suppressed was at least THREE TIMES THE MARGIN of Dolt45’s ‘victory’ in each state.

You probably saw the headlines about the Wisconsin voter purge last year. Since then, a lot has happened.

Before the lawsuit, the WI Elections Commission had unanimously (6-0) decided to individually verify that voters had moved before de-registering them in 2021. But then….
…after the lawsuit, the 3 GOP-appointed commissioners flipped and decided to go with the judge and support an immediate, unverified mass purge. The Dem-appointed commissioners held fast; wanted to wait out legal appeals. Commission deadlocked. Purge on hold.

But THEN…

even as the WI voter purge was playing out in state & federal court, the right-wing Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty sued to get the judge who’d made the original purge ruling hold the Dem elections commissioners in contempt of court. He ruled today: yep, he said—contempt.

The WI Elections Commission is scheduled to meet tomorrow. In the face of this ruling, they could well vote to conduct the purge immediately. It could be over by Friday. Which means our organizing will have to kick into high gear, fast—to make sure purged folks register again.

Once the purge takes place, we’ll be able to get the list of people and immediately begin reaching out to them, via text and email and social media and every other way we can think of.

Why is this all happening? It’s simple: this is the GOP’s strategy to win the election. Trump is terrified about losing Wisconsin. As his campaign advisor said in a closed-door briefing, “We’re going to win Wisconsin and win the election or lose Wisconsin and lose the election.”

“Traditionally it’s always been Republicans suppressing votes in places,” said Trump advisor Justin Clark—in a statement he claimed was taken out of context. (The, uh, context: a speech about “playing offense” with poll monitoring, a suppression tactic.)

    Name calling is all they got left. But on the positive side Mark Kelly is doing really well with fundraising, consistently ahead of McSally. Hopefully, he can unseat this appointed Trumpaloosa sycophant in November.
