Full list of degrees not classed as ‘professional’ by Trump admin
Students doing certain degrees may no longer receive the same amount of reimbursement for their studies now that the Department of Education is implementing various measures from President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.
One measure coming into action is that whether a degree is considered “professional” will influence how much reimbursement a student receives for their higher education.
However, there are a number of what many see as “professional” degrees missing from the new list, such a nursing, which sparked significant concern among nurses and nursing organizations.
Newsweek has contacted the Department of Education via email outside of regular hours for comment.
Why It Matters
The costs of doing a college degree are getting higher and higher—over the last 30 years the average tuition for both public and private colleges has doubled after adjusting for inflation, according to a report by NPR.In just the last decade, costs of undergraduate tuition in public universities have also gone up by 30 percent, according to the University Herald, and some colleges were also set to bring in 4 percent cost hikes for this academic year as well.
This means that those doing high-costing degrees, who may no longer receive the same amount as their degree may not be deemed “professional,” could financially struggle to cover the costs—which could deter students from choosing to pursue those high-demand careers.
What To Know
Under the terms of Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) will be brought in to replace previous programs. This means that the Grad PLUS program, designed to help graduate and professional students cover educational expenses, will be scrapped while Parent PLUS loans, student loans available for parents of dependent undergraduate students, will be limited.

1. This is an attack on women. These are female dominated professions.
2. This is about trying to limit the options that women have. To have their own lives. To have their own money.
3. This is about trying to force women out of the workforce and back into the home.
4. This is about trying to limit the financial opportunities of women. By removing them from ‘professional’ status, they are limiting the EARNING POTENTIAL OF THESE WOMEN.
5. This is about limiting ACCESS TO EDUCATION. That EDUCATION cannot be used as the means by which people pull themselves out of poverty.
6. These professions are those that have MANDATORY REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. This was pointed out to me. I didn’t understand this aspect of it. Once again, helping the pedophiles and abusers. This is a common pattern with this Administration.
7. This is about a financial windfall for whatever scammers are going to be allowed to do PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL LOANING, since the path for low-interest FEDERAL LOANS are going to be lowered, if not eliminated.
8. The entire closing of the Department of Education is nothing but another SCAM. A 1.8 TRILLION DOLLAR SCAM. Those loans are going to be given to some private loan group to so ‘ collections’. Nothing but MORE CORRUPTION.
9. This is to cut off the path of educational opportunities for Blacks and other minorities.
10. Many of these professions REQUIRE THOSE IN THEM TO PASS A NATIONAL TEST BEFORE THEY CAN GET THE JOB. HOW ARE YOU NOT A PROFESSIOANL WHEN YOU HAVE TO PASS A TEST BEFORE YOU CAN BE QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB.
11. ENGINEERS? HOW IS ENGINEERING NOT A PROFESSION?

Can someone explain how a theologian is considered more “professional” than a nurse practitioner? As part of the “Big Beautiful Bill” the Department of Education just proposed a reclassification of a “professional degree,” and it means fewer students will qualify for the higher loan limits they need for grad school. Programs being excluded include many fields dominated by women like healthcare, counseling, and social work. This isn’t a coincidence. This is a way to quietly push women out of professional careers.
Limiting who can pursue advanced degrees in critical professions will only deepen the workforce shortages we’re already facing.

It appears that somebody instructed Marco Rubio to go along with the story unfolding and it looks to me that this resulted from the following chain of events. I will lay it out here:
Everything points to the direction that Witkoff and Kirill Dmitriev were hammering out this 28 point surrender paper, without informing the US Secretary of State or the Ukrainian government. It contains primarily Russian wishes and unrealistic Russian demands, but Witkoff basically took them over in the list.
Kirill was then leaking this Russian wishlist to Axios, well-knowing what it is. Witkoff basically confirmed.
The intent followed two objectives. First, maximalist wishlist of the Russian should be engraved cognitively in media sphere for everyone before any pushback occurred. Two, it should test the US government how it would react to the backlash which will inevitably follow.
Rubio unaware of the contents of the talks was then confronted by a bipartisan group of US Senators and gave them his answer, which at this moment was truthful.
The senators then went public quoting Rubio: “It is not our recommendation, it is not our peace plan.”
At this point the US officials in the Trump administration must have started to realize that something is going wrong. As intended the leak totally blind-sided them. They completely lost control of the situation, but grudgingly decided to go along with it. Rubio was then compelled to go public and claim that it was indeed the plan, while watering down that it yet just the Russian side, with some previous input from Ukrainian side.
This is my assumption based on facts I see so far.
This whole episode reveals that the current US negotiating team is completely out of its depth and that people involved in this „negotiations“ are absolute amateurs to say the least. Ukraine is well advised to push back hard and not leave any doubts that this surrender paper is dead in the water by countering it with a new peace proposal.

Comey and James Cases Dismissed After Judge Finds Prosecutor Wasn’t Properly Appointed
Decisions deal a blow to President Trump’s efforts to prosecute his perceived political adversaries
A federal judge on Monday dismissed criminal charges against both former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James, ruling that the Trump-appointed prosecutor who brought them was unlawfully serving in the role.
The decisions from Judge Cameron McGowan Currie deal a significant setback to the Justice Department, which brought charges against Comey and James within weeks of President Trump publicly calling on Attorney General Pam Bondi to prosecute several of his prominent critics.
Comey and James both contested Lindsey Halligan’s appointment as unlawful while also pointing to Trump’s public statements to argue that his prosecution was rooted in the president’s desire for retribution against a perceived adversary.

That is the sentiment of nearly all — appropriators, authorizers, hawks, doves, rank and file. The arrogance of this White House team is off putting to members who are run roughshod and threatened. They don’t even allow little wins like announcing small grants or even responding from agencies. Not even the high profile, the regular rank and file random members are more upset than ever. “More explosive early resignations are coming. It’s a tinder box. Morale has never been lower. Mike Johnson will be stripped of his gavel and they will lose the majority before this term is out.”
