  1. Well, he talks a great game….guess we’ll have to wait and see how the next 2 years pan-out.

Hi Raven. Welcome to 3 Chics. Care to share your thoughts on Tribal Nations? Thanks.

      • Raven says:

Well, I have many thoughts, most I’ll keep to myself for personal reasons.

I’m an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, we have it a lot better than some, but on many levels we are about the same.
Our crime rate is higher than I would like, the health care for our Elders could/should be a lot better, scholarships for college bound students could be easier to obtain.

I really feel bad for the indians in the 4-corners area….having to carry water for miles, and a serious lack of “safe housing” like heat in the Winter, and a little cooler in the Summer.

I feel like since the government placed them on reservations in some of those God-foresaken place, they should pony-up the dollars for a decent way of life.

I have a comfortable life, I’m a single dad, raising a 17 year old son and a 27 month old daughter. I have been Blessed with a great college education (that I paid for myself) a nice warm/cool house, running water and plenty of food, so I’m speaking mainly for the ones who have less than myself.

Obama may not be perfect (can’t say I know of a perfect human) but I do believe he is doing the best he can with what he has to work with and what he had to start with.

      • Hi, Raven!

I’m just getting to the board. I’ve been out of town.

Good Post! I concur w/ your post.

THIS: “I feel like since the government placed them on reservations in some of those God-foresaken place, they should pony-up the dollars for a decent way of life.”

Good luck with that. There are centuries of wrongdoings to the American peoples by our government. That’s the downside of government interventions. They inject rules/laws and they have the authority to dismatntle them. Having certain controls over our lives, can leave us at their mercy. There’s no justice or freedom in this. That’s a challenge.

What Happened At The Tribal Nations Conference
        December 21, 2010

President Obama recently held his second Tribal Nations conference. He hosted leaders of the 565 federally recognized tribes in the U.S. James Ramos, chairman of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians in California, talks about what was accomplished at the conference and what wasn’t.

    • Hello Raven!

Welcome to 3 Chics! President Obama signed the Tribal Law & Order Act which should have been done a long time ago. The President made a campaign promise and followed through. I believe he’ll keep his word.
