Governor Bob McDonnell: Is He Having His “Come To Jesus & Out Of The VAG” Moment?

NOPE; I DON’T SEE ANY JOBS UP IN THERE!

Virginia Gov., a VP Hopeful, Alters Abortion Ultrasound Stance

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, a potential GOP vice presidential candidate, pulled his support for a controversial state bill that would require women seeking an abortion in early stages of their pregnancies to under an invasive type of ultrasound.
With the governor’s change of position, the Virginia House quickly tweaked a new version of the bill and was passed.
McDonnell, who is widely expected to be considered as a potential be running mate for the Republican ticket in 2012, still supports a requirement that pregnant women seeking an abortion undergo an ultrasound.
The governor issued a written statement today that he no longer believes an invasive transvaginal ultrasound is necessary for women in early stages of pregnancy who want to obtain an abortion.

Seriously folks, it just frazzles my last brain cell to think this man is a VICE PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL  Think real long and hard, Gov. McDonnell, if you think Virginia women or any women with good common sense will ever pull the lever for you or any other man who would commandeer such foolishness.

  2. OH! GOP Gov Claims He Didn’t ‘Realize’ Bill Mandated Invasive Procedure

Va. Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) said on Friday that he changed the terms his support for a controversial GOP-sponsored mandatory ultrasound bill at the last minute this week because he didn’t realize until that point that the law would require an invasive, transvaginal procedure. Instead, he and a few Republican delegates rewrote the bill to mandate regular abdominal ultrasounds before an abortion, even though they are ineffective during the earliest weeks of pregnancy.

During the amendment process, McDonnell told a Politico panel, “We realized there was [sic] different kinds of ultrasounds, so what I recommended to the General Assembly, and they adopted the other day is, let’s make the requirement for an abdominal ultrasound. We found out through the medical community that in most cases if it’s not sufficient, on their own they already do other kinds of ultrasounds. So I said let’s make those amendments. I also got legal advice from various people that these kinds of mandatory, invasive requirements might run afoul of Fourth Amendment law.”

Virginia Legislature Kills Personhood Bill, Postpones Ultrasound Bill

The Virginia state Senate voted Thursday to postpone a decision on the controversial ultrasound bill that had passed out of Committee earlier today. The latest version, which requires women to undergo a transabdominal ultrasound before they can get an abortion, will likely be taken up tomorrow. The Senate also voted to send a bill back to Committee that would have defined “personhood” as beginning at the moment of conception, which effectively kills the bill until 2013.
