Breaking With Romney, Gov. Martinez Won¹t Support Repeal

New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez refused to stand with Mitt Romney on his calls to repeal Obamacare because of the many good features of the law, such as the pre-existing conditions clause and the piece that allows young people to stay on their parents’ insurance.

TRANSCRIPT

Question: Presidential candidate Romney has come out and said he wants to completely repeal and replace the health care law. Do agree with that position? Are you supportive of that?

Governor Martinez: You know, what I think is important is that we provide a system that is, um, available to those that are most in need. Making sure that we have, are not forcing families to buy something, that they can’t afford. But, by the same token, I think there are parts of it, for example, you know being allowed to have your child, um, until they are 26, insure them. They are going to college, etc., I think that’s a good thing. I think the pre-existing conditions, you know, we want to make sure that were taking care of people. So, I want to make sure that, is it in its entirety, or are there parts of it that we can keep, to make sure that we’re taking care of that very needy population.

WHELP!

How Romneycare is like Obamacare on taxes

The problem here for Romney is that his health care law in Massachusetts did the exact same thing as the Roberts-tweaked version of Obamacare will do. The individual mandate Romney installed uses the same tax scheme to penalize free riders as the Affordable Care Act will, charging people who chose to not purchase health insurance a penalty through the tax code. And Romney himself has acknowledged as much — many times.”

    FROM DU

The GOP talking points are officially out, and you can guess what they are:

    TAXES
    and
    DECEPTION

Well, okay, you could have GUESSED the first one. Whenever somebody mentions the word ‘taxes’ the Republican spin doctors’ ears perk up like cocker spaniels. And that’s what happened the nanosecond the SCOTUS ruled that the ACA is struck down as a ‘mandate’ but stands as a ‘tax.’

So, all the chatter about Obama the Dictator forcing people to buy things has stopped. So has all the chatter about the quality of healthcare getting worse, or premiums going up, or ‘rationing’ and ‘death panels,’ and suddenly the right wing noise machine is abuzz with talk about “Obama’s big TAX INCREASE” and the fact that he “DECEIVED” everybody by saying it WASN’T a tax.

KEEP AN EAR OUT FOR THE GOP’S LIES TO CONTINUE BASHING THE ACA. THE TALKING POINTS ARE OUT. WE MUST SUASH THEM!

    FYI:

The mandate, requiring every American to purchase health insurance, appeared in a 1989 published proposal by Stuart M. Butler of the conservative Heritage Foundation called “Assuring Affordable Health Care for All Americans,” which included a provision to “mandate all households to obtain adequate insurance.”

The Heritage Foundation “substantially revised” its proposal four years later, according to a 1994 analysis by the Congressional Budget Office. But the idea of an individual health insurance mandate later appeared in two bills introduced by Republican lawmakers in 1993, according to the non-partisan research group ProCon.org. Among the supporters of the bills were senators Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, who today oppose the mandate under current law.”

Mitt Romney wants to run on appealing OBAMA CARE now, does he? What a Pain,, Bain… Nope, Mittens, you LIE.

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK OBAMA CARE IS, it’s just like Romney CARE.

    1. Anyone who already has health insurance, it WILL NOT CHANGE
    2. Folks with PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS will not be denied coverage.

Duh, so you’e pushing the same things that are already in OBAMA CARE & ROMNEY CARE.

    Have a fucking seat, dude.
