Video-Photos | President Obama Delivers Remarks to the Israeli People

HISTORY RIGHT HERE, FOLKS!

Update

Here is the key paragraph from his speech:

But the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and justice must also be recognized. Put yourself in their shoes – look at the world through their eyes. It is not fair that a Palestinian child cannot grow up in a state of her own, and lives with the presence of a foreign army that controls the movements of her parents every single day. It is not just when settler violence against Palestinians goes unpunished.

It is not right to prevent Palestinians from farming their lands; to restrict a student’s ability to move around the West Bank; or to displace Palestinian families from their home. Neither occupation nor expulsion is the answer. Just as Israelis built a state in their homeland, Palestinians have a right to be a free people in their own land.
Already, veteran Israeli commentators are lauding the address as “historic.”

    Obama’s wanderings in Israel

After noting sundry imperfections of Obama’s Jerusalem speech, Peter Beinart declares it on balance “a great, even profound, speech,”

because Obama rejected the Jewish right’s endless rhetoric about Israel having “no partner” …

because Obama asked Israelis to “look at the world” through the eyes of a Palestinian child …

[and] because Obama challenged the core narrative of Netanyahu and his American supporters: that Jews are the world’s permanent victims, licensed by their fears to worry only about themselves.

Rachel Maddow is doing a segment on the President’s trip to Israel….she did a split screen of the President receiving the medal from Shimon Peres…it was live on MSNBC and CNN…while Fox was running a commercial for their program about why POTUS is an enemy of Israel

Obama doing in Middle East what he’s doing at home: appealing directly to people over heads – and in defiance – of politicians. @BBCNewsUS

There seems to be a fear and reluctance among US media to acknowledge that President Obama is beloved as a world leader.
