Open Thread | Do You Know How To Get A Mail Ballot?

I am going to post this repeatedly. Want for people to understand what’s involved with Mail Voting.

In these Global Pandemic times, you need to think about how you are going to vote.

One option that is an alternative to in-person voting, is Mail Voting/Absentee Voting.

First of all, Mail Voting/Absentee Voting – ARE THE SAME THING. Just depends upon what your state calls it.

The time is NOW for you, and your entire household to prepare for November.

ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE?

Has your Secretary of State/Election Head – PURGED YOU FROM THE VOTER ROLLS?

Fast way to check about your status: go to VOTE.ORG

 

 

If yes, then go to your local jurisdiction. Is that your state? Is that your county? Get yourself a Mail Ballot. A lot of states allow you to apply online. If they don’t, then go to their website, download yourself an application, make copies to pass out to everyone, and make sure that you mail them back.

What if the answer is NO – you are not registered. Then get registered ASAP. If your state offers ONLINE registration – take advantage of it. It’s faster and takes only a few days. If they don’t offer ONLINE voter registration, then get registered. Download that paper application , make copies to pass out to everyone, and mail them back.

KNOW THE REGISTRATION DEADLINES.

And, then ignore them. The name of this game is EARLY.

EARLY EARLY EARLY EARLY

You DO NOT WANT TO WAIT TO THE LAST MINUTE IN ANY OF THIS PROCESS.

Get the Voter Registration Application in early.

Get the Mail Voting Application in early.

The minute you get that Mail Ballot in your hands, make your turnaround time 24-48 hours.

Hound your family about getting that Mail Ballot done.

You need to follow the instructions on the Mail Ballot –

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR YOUR BALLOT TO BE ACCEPTED.

Some states make it easy. Other’s don’t. Here’s the hint – if they don’t make Mail Voting easy, they will be LOOKING FOR A REASON TO REJECT YOUR MAIL BALLOT AND DISENFRANCHISE YOU.

Please find out:

Does your ballot have to be POSTMARKED BY ELECTION DAY.

Or DUE INTO THE ELECTION AUTHORITY BY ELECTION DAY.

Does your Election Authority REQUIRE THAT THE BALLOT BE DELIVERED BY THE POST OFFICE.

Or, do they have DROP OFF BOXES.

IF they require that it be delivered by the Post Office –


UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU JUST DROP OFF YOUR BALLOT AT THE POST OFFICE. YOU NEED TO GO INSIDE, AND WATCH THE POSTAL STAFF PUT A TIME STAMP ON YOUR BALLOT ENVELOPE.

If your jurisdiction has some sort of a signup where you can track the progress of your ballot – do it.

I’m not saying that it will be guaranteed that, if your follow my advice that your ballot will be counted, but, I’m trying to give you helpful hints towards a successful, accepted Mail Ballot.

      Vote by Mail is huge in Arizona, not just because or the pandemic. I’ve been on the permanent early voters list for at least ten years.

      Yeah, I’ve thought about this.

      None of the other presidential candidates except Bernie and, to a much lesser extent, Pete had a significant amount of electoral support. Ms. Harris, of course, didn’t stick around for the actual voting but her polling numbers were quite low. Pete and Amy dropped out before Super Tuesday choosing to accept the guaranteed reward from Biden rather than get 4 or 5 percent of the votes. Elizabeth hung in there, probably to take votes from Bernie and set herself up for a reward from Biden.

      Since Biden won the first primary of his life in South Carolina with a lot of help from Rep. J. Clyburn, he was more or less obligated to choose a black woman when Rep. Clyburn asked that he do so.

      The only candidate that Biden could have chosen who had a significant amount of voter support in the primaries was Bernie. Bernie is an old white man, not black, not a woman, and not young. So his choices were women who were successful in state, district, or local elections or someone who is not a politician.

      The VP has never really been a people’s choice, but maybe it should be especially if these geriatrics are going to be allowed to run for president.

      John Kennedy picked LBJ to win Texas and I doubt anyone voted for them thinking that a young president might not finish his first term.

      So anything could happen. And this time around everyone understands the magnitude of this decision. It is huge. But tradition prevails and the choice is not part of the democratic process.

      Definitely something to think about.

      It’ll be curious to see how this plays out in the end.. this dubious effort that once again attempts to manipulate and force-feed folks the hand-picked choice of the invisible hands behind the curtain and the poobahs who’ve pretty much God-fathered said political career and mostly undeserved rise through the years..

      And especially with precious little to actually show for time spent in those choice elected gigs.. often ignoring, dodging, entirely avoiding pertinent issues, with an eye entirely focused on own political advancement and plotting the next leap to the next higher office – at the expense of those she was elected to serve..

      …preening for cameras while reading index cards prepped by congressional staff at hearings, bandwagoning, tweeting platitudes, dubiously insinuating oneself into ‘movements’ entirely for self-interest, political advancement, these past several months ..none of that exactly change the facts..

      Having some poobah prop her up and others dubiously and consistently help clear the field for choice electoral gigs, is hardly admirable, laudable, impressive or exemplary.. nor should it ever be viewed or held up as some credible model/blueprint for ascending high office.. or that now often bandied about (cosplay) ‘historicity’..

      She’s painfully contrived, conviction-free (beyond her own advancement), and mediocre at best – and no amount of trying to force-feed conveniently revised versions of this entirely self-aggrandizing, glaringly manufactured careerist pol who’s been eternally propped up throughout the years by politically-connected, affluential male benefactors, will change that..

      We could have and needed to do much better.. There are far superior Democrats – young and not so young – who are once again sidelined ..passed over in favor of hyped-up mediocrity – effusively (even if unconvincingly) touted and baselessly lauded..

      The still ongoing aggressive P.R campaign, courtesy of the usual suspects, does nothing to down-play the obvious.. If anything, it’s insulting and even more off-putting in its deceit, phoniness, disingenuity, calculation, manipulation.. and yes, assault on the intelligence of black folks..

      Some of us can choose not to celebrate or glorify this sham..

      Even as there’s a treasonous buffoon and corrupt cohort actively doing such irreversible damage, that’ll have to be toppled..
