VIDEO | Andrea Saul, Mitt Romney’s Press Secretary Says If Only Fired Employee Joe Soptic Had ‘Romneycare’

Apparently individual health care mandates and RomneyCare in MASSACHUSETTS is Americans only hope to receive good medical care, from grave illnesses in order to STAY ALIVE.  And so would the AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA) OBAMA CARE!

Romneycare would cover an unemployed cancer patient. Obamacare will too

Yesterday, Democratic Super PAC Priorities USA put out an ad featuring a steelworker who blamed Mitt Romney for his loss of health insurance after Bain Capital shuttered his plant. His wife subsequently died of cancer.

Today, the Romney campaign had its response. That worker would have been fine, Romney press secretary Andrea Saul told Fox News, if that person had lived in Massachusetts: He would have been covered under the former governor’s health law. .

“If people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care,” she explained earlier today. “There are a lot of people losing their jobs and losing their health care in President [Barack] Obama’s economy.”

That’s all pretty much true: People have lost health insurance during the recession, a result of unemployment as well as employers scaling back their coverage. It’s worth noting though that this appears to be leveling off a bit as we get further away from the recession: The percentage of Americans without insurance held stable between 2009 and 2010, hovering just above 16 percent.

If Joe Soptic, the steelworker featured in this ad, had lived in Massachusetts, he would have had access to coverage: The state ended insurance exclusion of pre-existing conditions in 2006, when it passed its universal coverage.

Op-Ed: Andrea Saul single handedly kills Mitt Romney’s hopes of victory

Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul slipped away from the talking points while on the Fox News “Happening Now” program this morning and gave the campaign a brand new headache. This one may be fatal, as it affects whatever base Romney might still have.

While ostensibly on the program to hammer an ad being aired by a pro-Obama PAC in which a man blames Mitt Romney for losing his job and health insurance, and then his wife to cancer that would have been treated under his old insurance policy, Spokeswoman Saul said these words that were followed by a thunderclap of hands smacking foreheads around the nation.

Beyond the Obama ads, Joe Soptic’s steelworker story

In 2008, it was Joe the Plumber. This year, it’s Joe the Steelworker.

Joe Soptic, 62, has become a go-to figure for supporters of President Obama, appearing this week in his second campaign ad talking about being laid off from a Kansas City, Mo., steel plant that was taken over by Bain Capital in 1993.

In the ad, released Tuesday by the super PAC Priorities USA and titled “Understands,” Soptic makes his most heated claim to date, suggesting a link between his wife’s death five years ago and the Bain takeover.

“When Mitt Romney and Bain closed the plant, I lost my health care, and my family lost their health care,” Soptic says in the minute-long spot. “And a short time after that, my wife became ill . . . she passed away in 22 days.”

I was laughing my butt off after Andrea Saul made the Romney campaign’s response to the Prorities USA ad featuring Joe Soptic. Ann Coulter wants Saul’s head on a stake. I thought Limbaugh was going to have a heart attack on the radio. The little tool let the cat out of the bag! That’s why many of the RW movers and shakers are so upset. For once, someone in the Romney campaign inadvertently told the truth, and the power brokers can’t have any truth-telling going on in the GOP because they’ve known all along that the GOP has been running the biggest con in history since the 1980s.
