Investigator wanted manslaughter charges against Zimmerman

The lead homicide investigator on the Trayvon Martin case recommended that George Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter only to be denied, according to ABC News.
Chris Serino, the Sanford, Florida investigator, filed an affidavit on the night of crime saying he was unconvinced of Zimmerman’s account. However, the state attorney’s office Norman Wolfinger told Serino not to press charges against Zimmerman after he said there wasn’t enough evidence against him.
Police later accepted Zimmerman’s claim that he shot the 17-year-old Martin out of self-defense.
The state attorney’s office said “no comment” when asked about Serino’s affidavit.
The Martin family and their attorney are going to have to FIGHT these white monsters and the slave-catchers with everything they’ve got, because they aren’t going down easy, oh no, they will never admit to these heinous acts of BIGOTRY, RACISM, AND DECEIT.

SANFORD, Fla. — There will be a congressional hearing in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, where Trayvon Martin’s parents are expected to testify about their son’s death.
Congresswoman Corrine Brown co-sponsored the house judiciary briefing.
In the hearing, they’ll discuss the role of the federal government on racial profiling and hate crimes.
Meanwhile, an internal investigation is underway on Tuesday at the Sanford Police Department, as police try to figure out who leaked information about gunamn George Zimmerman’s statement to investigators the night Martin was shot and killed.
Martin’s parents said they are furious about the new developments. They said the people at the police department are trying to tarnish Trayvon’s reputation.
It’s been a month since the shooting, but now a friend of 28-year-old Zimmerman is defending him.
Zimmerman’s friend Joe Oliver said Zimmerman was trying to do the right thing, but it went terribly wrong.

(CNN) — A New Orleans police officer was suspended Monday without pay after he posted remarks online about slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin.
“Act like a Thug Die like one!” officer Jason Giroir wrote on the website of CNN affiliate WWL, under a news story on the case that has sparked national debate and concerns about racial profiling.
Giroir admitted to the post, according to a statement from New Orleans police.
“The Internet comments written by Officer Giroir, which include the fact that he is member of the NOPD, have given me grave concern regarding his fitness for duty. Because of this, I have suspended Giroir without pay, effective immediately,” Superintendent Ronal Serpas said in the statement.
“To say that I’m angry is an understatement. I’m furious,” he added. Serpas said Giroir embarrassed the department by his “insensitive, harmful and offensive comments.”
Trayvon Martin, 17, was killed late last month as he walked back to his father’s fiancee’s house in Sanford, Florida, after a trip to a convenience store. Police say he was unarmed, carrying a bag of Skittles candy and an iced tea. He was shot by George Zimmerman, who said he was acting in self-defense, according to authorities.

How was George Michael Zimmerman, after having been arrested and booked on two felony counts allowed to apply for and receive a concealed weapons permit? Two of the charges state violence against an arresting officer. The third charge seems to be speeding but the license suspension had to be lifted because the cop failed to show up in court.

WASHINGTON — Trayvon Martin’s parents will be on Capitol Hill Tuesday to attend a briefing on racial profiling and hate crimes, according to Congressional Black Caucus spokeswoman Stephanie Young.
Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, whose teenaged son Trayvon was shot to death last month by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Sanford, Fla., will be in the audience, but won’t testify during the two-hour briefing organized by Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee. Their family attorney Benjamin Crump will testify, however.
Four Congressional Black Caucus members who serve on the Judiciary Committee — Reps. John Conyers (D-Mich.), Corrine Brown (D-Fla.), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) — came up with the idea for the briefing. Participants will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. and a briefing at 3 p.m., with the goal of assessing “the role of the federal government regarding racial profiling and hate crime issues,” according to a hearing notice.

George Zimmerman is free to walk the streets of Sanford, Florida. But the gun he used to shoot and kill 17-year-old Trayvon Martin is in police hands, Mother Jones has confirmed.
A spokeswoman for the city of Sanford says that the Sanford Police Department took into evidence the gun that Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, fired at Martin on Feb. 26. That was the day that Zimmerman had called 911 to report “a real suspicious guy” clad in a hoodie, who turned out to be a kid walking home from a nearby 7-Eleven with a bag of Skittles and a can of iced tea. Zimmerman’s pursuit of Martin led to a physical altercation between the two, wherein Zimmerman shot and killed Martin. Zimmerman’s lawyers claim it was an act of self-defense, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.
One month has passed since Martin’s killing, which has since ignited a national controversy. To mark the sober anniversary, the Brady Center To Prevent Gun Violence, a leading gun control group, blasted out a press release: “GEORGE ZIMMERMAN STILL HAS HIS GUN AND HIS LICENSE TO CARRY AND USE IT.” That’s half-right. Zimmerman no longer posesses the gun he used to kill Martin. But he still has a permit to carry a concealed weapon—and, thanks to Florida’s gun laws, he still has the right to buy a new handgun instantly and travel to 35 other states while packing heat.
