The bizarre story of the Louisiana-based ‘sovereign’ Washitaw Nation might be funny if it weren’t for investigations of its possible financial crimes.

      This really isn’t ROCKET SCIENCE.

      GUNS GUNS GUNS

  9. rikyrah says:

No…seriously…where’s a picture of the shooter?

    come on now.

    • Ametia says:

Yes, good question, Rik. Why just show photos of the dead black cop?

THE CONTINUAL EXPLOITATION OF BLACK, EVEN DEAD BLACK COPS.

CNN & MSNBC. Just checking in with these stations to POINT OUT THE GLARING FUCKERY. They offer nothing more.

      • rikyrah says:

        You thought I was kidding.

NOPE! This dude didn’t kill 3 cops and get taken to Burger King afterwards.

  14. rikyrah says:

    From Tim Wise:

    Tim Wise

Heads up…someone has created a FAKE Facebook page for Gavin Long, the apparent shooter of the police today in Baton Rouge. The only posts on it — including one in which he criticizes the killing of Alton Sterling and says that “cops hunt us on the daily” — were created today, after he was already dead, not on the days shown on the posts (there’s a time stamp that proves it right next to the claimed date of the post). Someone is clearly trying to suggest that he was motivated by anti-cop hatred and the movement for police accountability/Black Lives Matter. We have no idea what his motives were. But the page is fake. Interestingly, it says he worked for a site called Newsball Inc. which is a pro-Trump website. Makes me wonder if the person who faked this account might work there and forgot to scrub that little detail from their profile as they were creating this fake one, perhaps to smear the movement? Don’t know for sure, but it makes very little sense otherwise…

  15. rikyrah says:

Ok, he had to have a social medica presence. Where is the killer’s social media presence?

  16. Ametia says:
  17. Ametia says:

Yes, PBO, there is no excuse for violence against the police or unarmed, innocent citizens.

BTW, didn’t Congress get out of dodge Friday for 7 weeks, while gun legislation and other pressing legislation and work i left UNDONE?

  18. Ametia says:

So the rush to KILL the shooter and conceal his identity with media theatrics to paint the narrative that BLM is responsible explains it. The shooter is black, so the BLACK POTUS & AG better get their black asses out here and condemn STAT!

The police are running scared, white America is running scared. But no matter what, those gun laws can’t be touched! It’s only going to get worse, with more folks stockpiling guns to arm themselves from gun-totting black folks who are blowing away cops.

    • Liza says:

Yeah, in between Philandro Castile being murdered and the Dallas shooting, I said that PBO needed to make a strong statement. It felt different, like something changed, and someone needed to step up. We knew AG Lynch wouldn’t be the one to step up.

Well, one doesn’t have to be Einstein to understand that you can’t have cops killing black people one after another with videos on social media showing what really happened and expect that the same sequence of events will go on forever. Sooner or later, something changes.

I can certainly understand why Philandro Castile’s murder (the very next day after Alton Sterling was murdered) felt like the last straw to some folks. I know I felt it, that this HAD to be addressed by the highest authority, but it wasn’t. And I question why, because it was so obvious that something more was needed, that opening what is now the standard federal investigation and writing a report after two years with the same recommendations was not going to calm people down.

In Dallas, PBO tried to walk a middle line. Maybe that’s all he could do at a funeral. But, there is no middle line. No one is ever going to say just the right words that bring people together with an “open heart”. This is life and death, and it has been life and death for centuries. And perhaps there will always be those who do not value the lives of others. That’s why we have laws, and that’s why there must be equality before the law, something we have never achieved in this country, not even close.

      • Ametia says:

Speak on it, Lia. law and law enforcement in America has never been fair and just for POC

Chickens are coming home to roost.

And about his’ open heart’ thing, it would be all well and good, but people’s hearts cannot be legislated. But law and equal enforcement of said laws, i.e. GUN CONTROL can be legislated and enforced. The system and the broken, greedy, power-hungry that voters elect have no inclination to MAKE IT SO.

And don’t even get me started on violence. This great nation was built and thrives on VIOLENCE against it own citizens.

      • Liza says:

“This great nation was built and thrives on VIOLENCE against it own citizens.”

Indeed, violence in its many forms, not just the kind where they kill or maim or steal lives.

These cops and state pols all recite the NRA script verbatim.

  23. Ametia says:

WHO IS THE SUSPECT THAT IS DEAD?

    • Ametia says:

Yes; they supposedly killed the shooter suspect.

THE CHIEF JUST SAID THIS: “IT IS ABOUT GUN CONTROL, DUDE. IT’S ABOUT WHAT’S IN A PERSON’S HEART.”

YOU CANNOT LEGISLATE WHAT’S IN ANYONE’S HEART.

Ya know cop lives and their families matter, so does Alton Sterling and Philando Castile’s

  24. Ametia says:

If AG Lynch and nem would get their asses out there when BLACK FOLKS ARE BEING MURDERED AS QUICKLY as the do when the killer cops are blowing us away….

    JUST SAYING.

Apparently Gov. John Kasic I being asked to put hold on the conceal & carry law during the GOP Convention. The very party whose presidential candidate has been fear/hate-mongering since 2011 request for PBO’s birth certificate fiasco.

Now they’re afraid all that pent up fear, anxiety, hate they’ve fed is exploding and come for them.

    SOVERIEGN CITIZENS? =WHITE CITIZENS

    • Ametia says:

Sovereign citizen group are anti-government. Basically, they think they are a law unto themselves. Sound familiar?

WAIT FOR THE EVIDENCE FOLKS. Because folks are protesting, and they still have the right to protest.

BLM is not into this kind of foolishness.

    • rikyrah says:

      SOVEREIGN CITIZENS?

      PHUCK.OUTTA.HERE.

      • Ametia says:

MSNBC dude leaked info that the shooters could be from such a group. white pickup truck, also too. sovereign citizens is white a BLM is black.

The media Is up to their usual phuckery.

Anyone following CNN? I’m sure their script is worse.

    • Ametia says:

Most likely. And will they send in a DRONE TO BLOW UP HIS ASS?

HA! OPEN AND CARRY STATE LAWS, WHAT YA’LL GONE DO?

Like I said earlier, don’t trust the media. They’re building the narrative to excuse the killer.

The MAIN NARRATIVE? AMERICA NEEDS THE POLICE. They are here to defend & protect. That’s the drumbeat

    • rikyrah says:

I dunno SG2. Could be going back to the original witnesses who said that this was a shootout between folks with rifles, and the the Po-Po rolled into the middle of it unprepared. I mean, mofos who are having a shootout, in the streets, in broad daylight, with automatic weapons, don’t seem the type to care who rolls upon them.

Face the Nation’s GOP panel goes rogue: ‘Now this party is coming to Cleveland to die’
    July 17, 2016

Ben Domenech from The Federalist wasn’t accepting the spin from his fellow Republican panelists on Sunday’s “Face the Nation.” While Matt Schlapp from the American Conservative Union was insisting that new VP pick Mike Pence and presidential nominee Donald Trump were going to unite Republicans.

“The Pence pick does not change the fact that the Republican Party is now the party of Donald Trump,” he said, while Schlapp insisted he was wrong.

“A hundred and fifty years ago this party was begun by Abraham Lincoln on the idea that Constitutional rights were not bound by race or creed. That the American eagle’s wings were broad enough to accept all that would come here. Now, this party is coming to Cleveland to die,” Domenech continued.

  33. Liza says:

“Faced with this violence, we wonder if the divides of race in America can ever be bridged. We wonder if an African-American community that feels unfairly targeted by police, and police departments that feel unfairly maligned for doing their jobs, can ever understand each other’s experience. We turn on the TV or surf the Internet, and we can watch positions harden and lines drawn, and people retreat to their respective corners, and politicians calculate how to grab attention or avoid the fallout. We see all this, and it’s hard not to think sometimes that the center won’t hold and that things might get worse.”

Students Develop Smart Mat to Help Diabetics Avoid Amputation

Students creating new innovations is always inspiring. We have smart phones, smart watches, smart TV’s, smart lighting, and smart everything else, pretty much. Now, thanks to two students at Jackson State University, we have a smart mat for those with diabetes. It helps diabetics catch the warning signs to help prevent the need for amputations on their lower extremities.

Cehvan Baker and Jann Butler, both computer engineering students at Jackson State University, created a mat that “gauges foot temperature” in order to help determine if there is a problem with blood flow to their extremities. The earlier it’s caught, the less likely they are to have to go through amputation. When there is a change in foot temperature by more than four degrees between testings, then there is a higher likelihood that there is a circulation problem. This information can then be relayed to the treating physician and followed up with them.

The fact that this testing can be done at home makes it even more accessible and, I would venture to say, reliable. Reason being is that they can do this on their own time, at the same time, and in a convenient manner. The more frequently these tests can be administered, the more likely that patients are to catch something early. Currently, these issues are being caught too late because there is little way to measure temperature differences until an ulcer forms.

A retired Baltimore homicide detective who sued the Eastern Shore town where he was fired as police chief is joining the Baltimore state’s attorney’s office as an investigator.

Kelvin Sewell, 53, will work as a contract employee investigating felony, homicide and violent crime cases, according to documents submitted to the city spending board. He also will help locate and interview witnesses and act as a liaison with police agencies. His salary is listed at $63,925.

The city’s spending panel voted Wednesday to authorize the spending.

Sewell spent more than 20 years with the Baltimore Police Department, retiring as a sergeant in the homicide unit in 2010. He joined the Pocomoke City Police Department on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and the next year was elevated to chief — becoming the town’s first black top cop.

Last summer, Sewell was fired by the City Council. He has alleged that his dismissal was retaliation for not firing two officers after they had filed complaints with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Poll: Clinton Keeps 5-Point Lead Over Trump Heading Into Conventions

    Source: NBC News

On the eve of the GOP convention, Hillary Clinton maintains a five-point national lead over Donald Trump even after a period of negative news for the presumptive Democratic nominee, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Clinton leads the presumptive GOP nominee 46 percent to 41 percent in a poll that finds both candidates facing sizable disadvantages and challenges ahead of the party conventions which kick off Monday for the GOP in Cleveland and a week later for Democrats in Philadelphia.

Those numbers are unchanged from one month ago with the poll conducted after FBI Director James Comey strongly rebuked Clinton over her email practices even though he determined that she had not committed a crime. The poll was also conducted before Trump selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his vice-presidential running mate.

Clinton has the advantage among African Americans (84 to 7 percent), voters ages 18-29 (55 to 32 percent) and women (52 to 37 percent). The margin among Latinos will be released later on Sunday.

  38. 3 police officers have been shot and killed in Baton Rouge Louisiana and 7 wounded.

  39. rikyrah says:

Op-Ed The Democrats’ demographic firewall is under attack

    …………………………………………………

Comforting as that may seem, America’s demographic firewall has been under attack. And as we approach November, we find it severely weakened.
    ………………………………………………………….

Of course Republicans insist that disenfranchisement is not their intent. They claim, instead, that these laws are necessary to stop rampant voter fraud. But that assertion does not align with the facts. A GOP-sponsored database, Crosscheck, which is designed to cull through voter registration files from 28 states, analyzed 84 million records and found only 14 instances of possible voter impersonation. In Wisconsin, “proven fraud actually amounted to 0.0007 percent of all votes.” In fact, law professor Justin Levitt uncovered that from 2000 to 2014, there were only 31 instances of possible voter fraud out of 1 billion votes cast nationwide. Impersonating a voter to steal an election is not the issue. Disenfranchisement is.

Over the last few years Republican legislatures have moved to require specific types of voter ID that disproportionately affect minorities and the poor. In Texas, concealed weapons permits are acceptable, student IDs are not. Alabama rejects IDs issued by the public housing authority. As the NAACP has noted, nationwide, 25% of African Americans and 16% of Latinos, compared with 8% of whites, do not have the correct form of ID now demanded by Republican-dictated laws.

GOP lawmakers have also severely limited the ability to obtain an acceptable ID. Alabama shut down motor vehicle department offices in counties that had sizable African American populations. Only after a thunderous outcry did the Republican governor relent and agree to open the license bureaus — for one day a month. All this in a state where, by its own estimates, 250,000 to 500,000 registered voters lack a driver’s license or other acceptable ID under the law.

In Texas, 15% of voting-age Latinos without government-issued photo IDs live in counties where there are no driver’s license offices. In fact, as the U.S. Department of Justice noted, “Texas has DMV offices in only eighty-one of 254 counties in the state, with some voters needing to travel up to 250 miles to obtain a new voter ID.” Texas’ suite of laws, according to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, “impacts more than 600,000 registered voters and 1 million eligible voters.”
